Our first trip of the year and off to a great start

Our first visit to Daleacres after a 25+ year absence and we were very pleased indeed with our stay there. Even though there were hygiene restrictions from the COVID situation we never experienced a queue at the facilities and the wristband system seemed to work well. We cycled in the virtually traffic free lanes outside the site and the nice scenery and lack of hills made for an enjoyable experience. The wardens were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The only negatives for me was the incredibly small dog walking area and that the kids play area was locked, which was strange given that Government advice was that they could reopen on 4th July. However these are very minor issues that in no way spoiled our experience. A first class site that we recommend.

Virus, what Virus!

Just returned from 14 nights 5/7/20 - 19/7/20. Greeted by smiling Wardens, booked in with every aspect of Coronavirus safety respected. Like going home! Have been going to Daleacres Man and Boy for over 40 years! The restricted facilities worked well with the wristband system, and they were always immaculate, the crew at Daleacres deserve every praise. I felt comfortable and safe, from the day I arrived until the day I left, with a lovely goodbye and wished a safe journey. My first 'ex lockdown' trip was a real pleasure, Very Many Thanks. Fantastic place!!

Well what can I say.. An amazing clean tidy and well kept site.. The staff are all very polite and always welcoming... They all work hard at being jolly and keeping the site spotlessly clean... Lots of special touches like flower and herb baskets placed around the site.. Making it look pretty .. Its a must to stay there... Beautiful views from the site... Lots of walking places to go to and cycling... We stayed from 4/7/20 until 11/7/20 and truly enjoyed every single minute... Richard and Jackie... You are the best... We will definitely return again.. Thank you.. 1 other mention... As the site opened after lockdown from covid 19.. Every single effort was made to make it safe for everyone... Thank you..

Need a car

We have a Motorhome so once we've set up that's it. So if your like us don't bother coming here. I read reviews about waking up the canal to Hythe, yes if you want to walk up country roads with no path way ... very dangerous we turned back. The leaflet they give you on arrival states bus stop 0.2 miles away .. there is no bus stop If you have a car it's very central with lots of places to visit. The site itself is nice and big, good dog walk, good stocked shop (which you need if you run out of any thing as no shops near by) clean & tidy. This site is not for us

Daleacres needs an UPGRADE

Having spent 5 days at Daleacres, we were surprised to find that even though Yurts and a camping field has been added, there are no extra toilets and showers to accommodate the extra numbers using the facilities. The ladies loos were constantly blocked by toilet paper because they needed to be operated several times to flush! Children would have been unable to flush the toilets. There were queues for the showers and the toilets were reduced to THREE working on several mornings. It is a poor example to show to the many visitors from abroad, especially as it is close to the ferry ports. The site is well spaced out and it is a superb area for cycling along the quiet traffic free lanes. The route along the Royal Military Canal is excellent for cycling into Hythe. The wardens are very helpful and hardworking. Thanks for a lovely stay in spite of the conditions in the ladies loos!

Family friendly site

We arrived on the site on 31st July with 3 grand children aged 6 and 4 having previously been on this site 25 years ago. The layout of the site is excellent the cleanliness of the toilet block was very good. The location is very good with plenty of activities in the area to keep the children entertained. The wardens were efficient and friendly. We had very good weather so that helps with the children outside for majority of the day. My only criticism was that the grass in our area near the playground needed cutting. I appreciate that the site was pretty full and that grass cutting around pitches creates problems.

Need a car or bikes for this site.

I’m with the previous reviewer in that I found this site ok but nothing special. I thought it was just me. Facilities are ok and clean but not enough of them at busy times. Hardstandings are large but feel a bit crammed in on the the grass when all the pitches are in use. We did have a nice view of the castle and hills albeit distant from our pitch. Wardens were lovely and work hard. Shop pretty well stocked as is needed with no shop close by. As Motorhomers who need to walk everywhere there is very little of interest nearby. Long walk to Hythe and although it’s a nice walk along the canal once you’ve done it you don’t really want to be doing it daily! Nothing if you walk in the other direction on the canal. Might be ok if you are cycling. Other than that its walking on the road. No bus stop nearby. A tired pub up the road. Some nice eateries in Hythe. The Butt of Sherry do a fabulous steak. Loved the railway, had a trip to Dymchurch which is a very traditional seaside resort. I’m sure if you have a car there is lots to see and do in the area and that is why this site is so popular. Quite a lot of one nighters who I assume are coming and going from the Ferry or Tunnel. Spoke to lots of people on site who absolutely love it here but we didn’t feel the same. God job we are all different.

Handy for the coast

In contrast to the majority of the other reviewers we didn't find this site to be any great shakes. Standard club site facilities with perhaps more grass pitches to choose. The approach to the site is not particularly attractive given that it's supposedly the garden of England. We had bikes but didn't really fancy cycling in the narrow lanes, also a bit far to cycle to Hythe. The pub about half a mile from the site is ok, we went once but decided there were better places to try. Food and beer ok but as with the area, it's just got an untidy feel to it. Canterbury is nearby as are the channel ports. We stopped off on the return from France so the stay was functional rather than by choice. It served it's purpose but we'll be unlikely to return. It seemed a good site for families as the kids on site seemed to be having a great time playing until late in a safe environment. Hythe has a few supermarkets and a promenade that seemed to be hidden away a bit, but quite pleasant when you eventually find it.

Excellent

This site is in a fantastic location. It’s well laid out with helpful, welcoming staff. The bathroom facilities are excellent and clean. We had a toddler with us and there is a bathroom for little ones. We also used the laundrette and washing up room, both of which were well maintained. Very happy campers. Will be back.
