Culloden Battlefield

Stayed for one night before our trip down through the Cairngorms. The site was immaculate and the staff were very friendly. Ideal location to visit Inverness and the famous Culloden Battlefield. Thank you for a lovely stay.

super

This visit is the second of the summer holidays with two grandchildren and dog. We came by  request of said children and the dog if she could speak! Everything is spotless, the site is perfectly maintained by the helpful wardens. We love it!

A Good Week

A return visit to Culloden Moor after seven years for an 8 night stay. The site with its good sized well laid out pitches was much as we remembered it apart from the refurbished toilet block, superb is the only way to describe the facility. The toilets and the rest of the site are maintained to the high standard expected by the friendly wardens. A regular bus service, park the car and use it, from the site entrance into Inverness, 30 minute trip, for shops, eateries and local attractions. All the tourist attractions are within easy travelling distance. We spent a lovely day at Rosemarkie where you get a good view of the Dolphins when they decide to come out to play. A good week spent on a great site.

Peace n tranquil

Stayed 2 nights, lovely site with a woodland dog walk.  Great path straight to Culloden Battle Centre. Wardens very helpful and friendly.  Pitches large and generally quiet, especially top of the site away from the road.  You will need a TV cable for the booster box as the TV reception was poor.  Great site though

Scotland Tour

We stayed here for four nights on our way up to John O'Groats.  It was a lovely spacious and clean site, the dog walking wood was fabulous, the kids play area was great (although midge repellent necessary at dusk), and the showers and toilets were spotless at all times. Very friendly wardens, would recommend this site.

Culloden Moor, very morish :)

A long drive was rewarded by a good sized arrivals area, a prompt check in and plenty of pitches to choose from. We were pitch 56, well drained, well maintained. They have a few grass pitches but try to avoid using them. Some pitches on the downward side of the road pooled water in the lowest corner. Great play ground. Whats the fuss about the road layout? No issue for us, not a massive site and the play area in/out is away from the road. Read the comments book on site, after a massive revamp of the loo block some still not satisfied. No TV signal, can buy the club standard 25m cable on site, basics also there. As expected site and loo block very high standard. Dog walk in the woods, I was able to do it in flip flops most days, gets boggy in places nothing major. Den building in the forest is a handy stay on site day. Nice and safe for kids, a bit of speeding, sadly. Culloden Moor Inn, looks one to drive past, DON'T. Its fab inside, great and big portions, good service. Well worth a visit and just down the road. We also used the 1st Place takeaway, but drove there, all ok but go big on the pizza a 12" wont feed 4 unless you fill out with extras. Inverness = disappointing. We checked the tides and drove out to Chanonry Point to see the Dolphins, did see some not distant but not close by either, very small car park, go early. Decided to do this and not the boat trip, felt it did no go far enough out. Did the Lockness experience, avoided Nessy Land looked tatty? Did Urquhart Castle next, again small car park, camper vans get to use the coach park. We dropped lucky as we again avoided the boat trip, and found a parking space after driving round twice, the place gets rammed, be warned, is a great spot. Culloden Battle field great too, no audio guides to under 8's, so lie:) Then the FREE to view Clava cairns follow the signs or just keep going straight on if no sign, and that great bridge you can drive under it and around it. Fort George was a whole day affair, luck for us the Army were there and we go close to their kit, the kids a a great time, plus another Dolphin watch spot, but wrong time tide wise. Finally Did Brodie Castle, great play ground, guided tour only be warned, and Cawdor Castle both fab, both in one day is OK. I would seriously recommend this site for its location. A little road noise if you are at the bottom. Well done Wardens and great and friendly campers.

Lovely stay

We spent 4 nights at this Culloden site this month, it is an extremely peaceful one, the washroom facilities were always spotlessly clean and well looked after as is the site in general. TV reception is via hook up however there is no Wifi if you want to access the internet. The wardens as usual were excellent. Well worth a visit and ideal to visit to local places of interest including Fort George, Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness and of course the Culloden battle field a few miles away. Inverness city has plenty offer and can hold its own to many cities much larger than itself for shopping.

Lovely quiet site

This is a lovely attractive site with excellent facilities. The staff were friendly and the site was well maintained. I liked the new motorhome service point which was easy to use. The only criticism was the location was some distance from the nearest villages of Culloden and Balloch and we had to drive to these rather than use our cycles.
