Very peaceful site

I have to say that this is probably one of the prettiest sites that CAMC have. It is a very unusual site and due to its situation I can understand why there is a dry compost toilet, not to my taste, but nonetheless I understand why. I also understand that they want the windows in the shower blocks open but this does mean that I had to share my shower with an endless supply of daddy long legs, what looked like large mosquitoes and a few spiders. What I don't understand is why shower curtains have to be removed from the shower cubicle (there is also a door on the cubicle though but your stuff does get splashed) and from the privacy cubicles (no doors on these so really unusable). I know the reason will be because of Covid but not sure why. The shower block (one closest to the office) is old and in real need of modernisation/refurbishment just decent quality shower heads would help. These facilities were very disappointing. The other major issue is the lack of lighting on site it really is almost pitch black and difficult to navigate around once dark. On speaking to other people staying there they too raised the issue of poor site lighting and shower facilities and was told the site is only leased and CAMC are reluctant to invest any money in the site. I don't know if true or not but if it is the case then I feel the fees should be adjusted accordingly but more importantly standards should be maintained for members regardless of the status of ownership of the site. The wardens are very nice, the site is different to other CAMC sites but couldn't help being a little disappointed with some aspects of the site. The train station is very close and the local pub Frampton Arms is great, excellent food and staff.

We had a seasonal on here many years ago and the shower blocks were built at the same time and the toilet blocks about 10 years after the showers, they are showing their age but as I replied on another review the site lease has run out and now rented on an annual basis as the owners are local and live not far from the site and when the club took on this site it only had serviced points and when the blocks went in they were not allowed to have the usual  toilet blocks due to the owners of the site.

Agree re lighting but being a country person we always carry a torch.

As to the windows being kept shut that will get the shower blocks steamed up, they where always open when we were there but different staff have different ideas.

This review has made me want to visit the site because of the lack of lighting! I am so fed up of sites where it should be possible to see the stars but you can’t because of the light pollution. Please just carry a torch, we don’t need to be wasting energy like this
