Great for peace & Quiet - just not for us...
When you first arrive the site looks lovely & picturesque but by the end of the 1st day we thought otherwise, there's NO phone signal & NO Wifi, which for some is great but we needed to stay in touch with family so this soon became an annoyance as there's only 1 pay phone that doesn't accept calls so had to drive about 2 miles up the road to call anyone. Then the toilets....I actually thought they looked like something out of a horror film, just a deep black hole dug into the ground with a toilet on top, very creepy. Also the toilets are a good walk away from the showers so if u like to do all your business in one place this isn't for you. The showers are very basic too, be prepared to battle with bugs while you are in there.
Also a major complaint I have is lack of lighting along the roads and paths, if you venture out at night it's pretty much pitch black which I found abit unnerving especially since the site is set in a wood, so be advised - take a torch with you.
The quarry noise didn't bother us as we were on the opposite side but I can imagine it's quite noisy if you are near to it, some parts of the site actually over look the quarry.
On the good side, it is a very peaceful site (away from the quarry) ideal if you literally want to get away from it all, the wildlife is amazing we had a small group of Deer that came to the site daily and are so tame you can feed them by hand!
I also can't fault the staff, they were all friendly and pleasant.
The site itself is a good location for visiting all the major tourist spots in Dorset too.
We had 2 weeks there which were fab but I Won't be staying at Crossways again.
