First visit and now my favourite campsite
I found this campsite by chance whilst looking to stay near the sculpture lakes at Pallington. I booked two nights but could happily have stayed all week. Please don’t be put off by the composting toilets. The cubicles are spacious and spotlessly clean. There is no smell at all. The only difference is that you don’t need to flush (or brush), and there is absolutely no risk from toilet plume. There is a railway crossing close by and yes you do hear the trains and the horn blast as the train approaches the crossing, but it is not intrusive and it did not wake me during the night. The plus side to this is that the station is a leisurely ten minute walk with trains to Weymouth, Dorchester, Wareham and Poole etc. so no need to drive or worry about parking. I did see deer on the site, it wasn’t a problem, and as with any wild animal, you must give them space. There were notices reminding people not to feed them. The pitches are set in small clearings surrounded by woodland and there are plenty of clearings to choose from. This gives the feeling that you are on a very small site with many campers totally hidden from view. The site wardens do a fantastic job here, and you will be assured of a very warm welcome.
