Beautiful woodland setting
We are camping beginners and Crosslands was only the fourth site that we have stayed at. The woodland setting was an absolute delight. and different to any other site we have visited. Staying in a small glade in the wood with perhaps 4 or 5 other caravans or motorhomes was so much more private and intimate. You can go to sleep with the owls hooting in the trees and in the morning see deer running through the site. Enchanting! The site is in a great location with the railway station just down the road where you can get to places like Weymouth, Dorchester and Bournemouth. During our short stay we left our campervan behind and instead used the train.
All is not perfect however. The dry composting toilets are not as grim as you might imagine but they do smell. The showers do work but the water pressure is just adequate. The site also suffers from noise from the railway but you do quickly get used to the trains sounding their horns as they come up to the crossing.
We loved our stay at this site which formed a great base for exploring the delights of Dorset. I am sure we will return one day.
