Beat hunts on your doorstep

We travelled with our 3yr old son for a week stay over Easter, and would recommend this site. The site doesn't have a play park on site, (and the one mentioned in the information park really isn't to standard), however we had bear hunts on site and went out everyday on new routes..... We didn't find a bear, only a few deer :) The site is known for poor tv reception but this didn't effect us. We did find it annoying not having any 3G signal for planning our day out trips. There is an information office, however most attractions offer online discounts for advance booking, so we had to drive to the local coop for a reliable signal. I'd be willing to pay for site wifi access if it could be installed! The pitches are very small, this didn't effect us directly as we weren't using an awning, however neighbours were forced to park in front of their caravan simply because of the lack of space available for guideropes/cars. We would recommend visiting the tank museum (15/20mins away), the Dorset heavy horse centre (35mins away), and the Weymouth sealift centre (25mins by train-then 15min walk). Some review complain about noise but we didn't find this a problem. You can hear the train (it is right alongside the site), however when in our van the bird noise was louder! Staff were lovely and very welcoming. We have no complaints about the showers or toilets. Showers are 'old fashioned', but they worked and were clean so the decor didn't put us off. We'll definitely return next time we are in the area exploring.
