A Nice Little Site
We stayed on the site over a long weekend and found it to be a really quiet, peaceful site with lots of different standings. Some of a communal nature and some more secluded. Whatever takes your fancy.
On arrival, we were met with a cheery chat and briefing and then we were left to choose our own site and then inform reception where we had decided to stay. Once we did that, we carried out a recce of the facilities and encountered the composting loo's. Ex Military would recognise these as a "5 star thunderbox with comfybum toilet paper. Nothing more to say about the system except to say it was efficient and there was no smell that I noticed. They were immaculately clean,as were the wash facilities in that block. Becasue of the composting toilets, the shower block is separate from the toilets, so you have to "be aware of your requirements" whilst conducting your morning ablutions. Still, yet again, the showers were immaculately clean.
The site is quite close to the local railway and a level crossing. Consequently, the trains passing by sounded their horn in passing, which may cause some concern, depending on where you site your outfit within the 35 acres of woodland. Also quite close by is the Frampton Arms, serving good beer and excellent food. Well worth a visit. There is a Spitfire Club also close by, next to The Co-Op stire that stays open until 10pm.
TV reception on the site is poor, but this can be overcome by using the booster attached to the 240v outlet. You need a cable to attach the booster to your TV. This can be purchased at Reception (£15 for 25m). Mobile phone reception is not too good either depending on your provider, but i wouldn't expect to be spending too much time on Facebook because of that poor connection.
The site itself is great as a jumpng off point for all the places of interest in Dorset. Dorchester, Weymouth, Bournemouth and Pool are all quite close by. Information leaflets can be obtained at the information hut, opposite reception. These give you all the information you need for all the places you want to visit.
This is a terrific little site that you will enjoy. Margaret and I will be returning again in the near future. The Staff are friendly and helpful and keep the site immaculate. A credit to the Club.
