We don't use many large sites, normally preferring to use CL's but we found this site to be ideal. Don't be put off by its size. It's very well spread out with numerous glades and areas for different pitch types so something for everybody. Despite the numbers using the site there was always a calm and peaceful atmosphere which we loved. The wardens were so friendly and welcoming and happy to stop and chat while they were out carrying out their chores. First class ambassadors for the club. We loved being able to walk directly down to the lake and along the track into Coniston but there were also numerous other walks that can be started directly from the site. We also enjoyed two cycling outings during our week long stay, using the quiet road down the eastern side of the lake and also climbing up over the hill to Hawkshead and back down through Grizedale. Facilities were all maintained to the usual high standard which makes for a very comfortable stay. We would definitely highly recommend this site to anybody visiting the lakes as it makes an ideal base with so much to do in the immediate vicinity but also providing easy access to other parts of the Lake District if you want to explore further afield. We really enjoyed our stay here, helped in part by the lovely sunny weather, and hope to return for longer at some point to do all the things we didn't have time to do on this visit!
