Lovely site

I was nearly put off by some of the negative reviews on here but glad that I decided to see for myself. I do feel that some of the comments are unfair and I certainly did not recognise the site as described by some. It just shows that there are different expectations. This is a woodland site - the clue is in the name, it is a COPPICE! And it is beautiful! The pitches are nestled in amongst the trees, which provide screening & privacy. There is long grass in places, it is not manicured or mown short, it is very natural. There are no sterile rows of vans. There is space between the pitches, peace & quiet, dappled sunshine, birds in the trees. The shower blocks are kept spotlessly clean. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. The lake is a 10 min walk from the top of the site, closer from the bottom of the site. You can walk into Coniston in 30-40 mins either along what looks like an old railway line from the top end of the site or a path by the lake - paths are pram-friendly & level with lovely views. There is a great little playground for younger children. The shop sells basic groceries and a van provides fish & chips or pizzas most nights, 6-8pm. The roads on approach are single-carriageway (NOT single-track) and typical of the country lanes throughout the Lake District. We did not meet loads of caravans or motorhomes either on our way in or out, although there were several trucks & HGVs on the roads. I would definitely recommend this site for any motorhome or caravan owner who wants some peace & quiet in beautiful, natural surroundings, close to the lake.
