Lake lovers retreat

Our first visit to Coniston Coppice site. This is a very relaxed site. The pitches are a generous size & due to the site layout they are flexible on how you set up - some pitches are better for side on pitching. It is a short walk to the lake even when carrying a paddle board. There is a gravel beach like frontage which is great for spending time on between water sports. Everyone else we met seemed relaxed & friendly we had no issue about leaving our small possessions whilst we were in the water. Shower block is modern & clean as were laundry & wash up facilities which we used. My only preference would be that the grass on/around the pitch was strimmed it was probably 10 inches long. We had a lot of rain so we were walking through long wet grass as soon as we stepped out of the awning & dog laying in long wet grass. Not the end of the world but not the neat pitch depicted in site pics. We loved the green mossy woodland directly behind. The surrounding roads are hard work even with a car & you need to keep your wits about you. We did meet another caravan on our approach which was a stressful reverse down a bendy lane. That was the worse part of the road, a stone bridge on a bend at Brough but there is a passing point before & after if you take it slow & are aware. Stock up well for your stay as local shops run out of salad/veg & not particularly well stocked. We did visit Windemere & Kendal - great days out but we were there for the lake on our doorstep - not disappointed at all.
