Good for families

Great location for walking

Really great site- large site but wardens will advise where family or quieter areas are etc. Tends to be busier the closer to the lake you are, but all areas are within easy reach of lake through the woods or paths Most pitches are amongst trees and we found a flat one easily. Plenty of toilet blocks/facilities on site which close for cleaning at different times. Very clean. Camp shop useful and on site fish and chips on certain days. Wardens very efficient and friendly. Lovely Bluebird cafe (also sells beer and wine!) on path to Coniston on edge of lake. Shop near there sells souvenirs and walking maps. Great footpaths and plenty of opportunities for longer hikes all from site. Super pubs in Coniston. All dog friendly. Dogs have to be on leads on lots of paths as sheep grazing on open land. Will definitely be back!
