Great Location But Some Things to Consider
Firstly the last 8-9 miles to the site are very narrow roads with not many passing points so the time you arrive is a key consideration. You can access from 10.00 so would be worth getting there early and leaving early (we left at 8) to miss the motorhomes and caravans coming the other way. The site is very confusing with very little signage, so it is worth looking around to find the pitch that suits you but there are a lot of large pitches and various angles etc. You also need decent ramps as there is some large slopes on some of the pitches. Once you have done all the above it is a great location, the lake is very close and is stunning, there are lots of great walks from the site and you can vary them so that they are not the same. Coniston is a lovely little town with lots of pubs and shops and is about a 20 minute walk away. One thing that was a little irritating is that you can walk around the whole lake as there are private houses that back onto it , the council clearly bottled it on these homes! There is a fish and chip and pizza van 4 nights a week (alternatively) the food is good but I thought the Pizza was a little dear. The wardens were very helpful and the toilets and showers were spotless, I would have no issue coming back here as the location is lovely.
