Disappointed

Very disappointed with this site. CAMC clearly need to invest in this site. The approach road description is misleading. It is really narrow MOST of the way with very few passing places so not for the faint hearted! The wardens were fab and toilets etc as expected but the pitches were awful. They clearly need upgrading!!! Lack of stone on pitch plus tree shadow everywhere making even a dry period look damp. Hard to work out where to pitch with outfits facing all directions so don’t be surprised if somebody deckchairs, bbq, wind break or washing line very close to your pitch! Very hilly site so expect a hike to toilets from some pitches. Coniston is lovely but at least 45 min walk at pace thro the adjacent campsite which was full of tents kids and barking dogs. At least 2 miles each way so not for faint hearted. Site is not motorhome friendly unless u can walk that distance as taking your outfit out is not easy due to surrounding roads. To say we were disappointed is an understatement! Only stayed two nights and so glad that was what we had booked as would have left early. Hubby wanted to move on as soon as he saw pitches. Would never go back as lots more lovely sites in the area which meet our needs as late fifties motorhomers far better.

Late 50s?? If you have mobility issues then maybe you should have read reviews first, as it is a hilly site - which makes it very scenic with gorgeous woodland views on every level.  It’s so refreshing to be able to not park in regimental rows all facing the same way!! Lol

Not sure why you'd be disappointed about trees in a site called 'coppice'. Most pitches have solid rock underneath the gravel so a motorhome is unlikely to bog down and the roads are what you get in the Lake District. It's a gorgeous site in a beautiful location..

  • Our group has an average age of 66 and it took us 25 minutes via the adjacent campsite.  If you go via the Ship Inn it’s 20 minutes max.  Surely if you visit the Lakes you expect to walk
