Reading other site reviews I have been struck and sometimes bemused by the occasional very negative review amongst others praising a site. We have just left the Coniston site after a one night stay and would agree with the majority of reviews, location great, access challenging, likely to need levelling on a good number of pitches, on site food only OK. However, my wife and one other lady found themselves locked in the toilets this morning, at around 9.15 despite their two wrist bands being at the door (the toilets close for cleaning at 9.30). They were there hammering on the windows for over 10 minutes before the male site attendant let them out. As a result of his extremely rude responses, my wife decided to record the matter with the site staff when leaving. She is not of a complaining nature! After receiving a smiling "did you enjoy your stay" she was all the more shocked when the smile immediately dropped from the face of the attendant and she was on the receiving end of a further surly, rude and defensive response. It just goes to show that the true measure of site staff can be found when things go wrong. Lesson learned - we will not be back to this site.
