What a great site
Just back from 5 nights at Coniston. This is one we will definitely return to. We arrived via the North as we were coming from Ambleside. The road is very narrow in places and drove with wing mirrors folded on or motorhome. Two meetings with lorries were interesting! Going home we went South which was much easier.
A very warm welcome from the site managers, plenty of choice of pitches as Easter break had finished. Next time we might go to a different part of the site. Trees were just coming into leaf so plenty of light. Excellent and spotless facilities so big tick for the management. We had two large dogs so plenty of walks but do taje care as there are sheep and lambs everywhere. We kept our dogs on leash until we found paths along Coniston turning North with no sheep. Walk to Coniston which is very nice is about 30-35 minutes by foot. Bus stop outside the campsite as well. We ate in Coniston twice and also took the Gondola steam boat which has discount if you are a NT member. Dogs were allowed on board.
I have read some of the other comments about the site which are less complementary but our experience was a very enjoyable one and we have nothing but positive things to say. Maybe we were lucky but it only rained one night and we had totally dry days. Thank you again to the site team, most enjoyable stay. The scenery is stunning and always changing with different light dependent on the weather.
