Ticks lots of boxes!

We stayed here for 7 days, extending our original plans for 4 nights to 7. We had fantastic weather which always helps. Pitches are spread out in nooks and crannies and at different levels on the hillside, many need levelling blocks and the first one we tried to pitch proved to be quite difficult for us to get level so we walked around the site and found a nice level pitch tucked away. It does seem a bit of a lottery on how level your pitch is. Despite looking quite tightly packed in and higgledy piggledy, the overall ambience is one of peace and quiet with all manner of wildlife around you. I would imagine with trees in leaf it is quite a shady site. It was nice to be able to make use of the onsite food bar with pizza/chips on a couple of evenings. Walking from the site is great with a footpath directly to the lake and on into Coniston, also not far to the lake for launching kayaks etc. Staff constantly seen cleaning and emptying the bins, we used our own facilities so cannot make comment on those. The only negative about this site is the route to to it - narrow and winding (not for the faint hearted), odd that the CAMC do not have a later check in time to make this road route easier to navigate.
