Third visit August 2017
Our third visit to this site predominantly due to its excellent location for the lake beach and launch site. It was noticeable that the staff made much more of an effort to engage with us and our friends than in previous visits which is refreshing. They directed us to perfectly suitable pitches without having to go and search them out. Many reviews comment on the "small, dark, awkward pitches" on this terraced site. To be honest, I would expect nothing else on such a valley side placement. That is what the Lake District is so it doesn't bother us. Some of the centre of the site has been cleared of trees this year so it is more open there.
The draconian rules once enforced by the CC upon the orientation of your van were relaxed here which is much more sensible (as long as you maintain a safe distance from the next pitch). We have a continental style outfit so that was very refreshing. We had the same sensible approach and experience at the Longleat site recently so we hope this is new policy alongside the rebranding. Well done!
I would have marked it higher but for noisy dogs that barked incessantly at everything within earshot; not a reflection of the site so much as the dog owners upon it. We will be going back next year I'm sure.
