We arrived at the site mid afternoon and checked in easily. The reception staff were great, polite helpful and happy. We proceeded to find a pitch near to the toilet facilities and was surprised at the size of the site. We found a pitch but the ground was not level. It took 2 more tries before we found one that was suitable. We did not realise how hilly the area was (our fault for not researching enough) but had a great 3 nights stay. A walk into Coniston Village is a must. We had a very nice lunch in The Black Bull where they brew their own beer. The village is like a picture postcard, very pretty but quite busy. We also had a boat trip which took us from the pier to almost level with the site gate as I couldn't walk the whole distance. I would recommend this site as long as you are fit and enjoy walking/trekking. Make sure you have suitable footwear.
