Superb!
Wow, this site is huge but it doesn't feel it due to the way it is broken down into small offshoots of clusters amongst the trees.
The route in can be a bit stressful as the roads are narrow and twisting, but that is the Lake District in general and once you're at the site you quickly forget the stress and chill out in this beautiful location.
The site is on a slope leading down towards Coniston Water and we chose pitch 232 which is opposite a facilities block in the middle of the site. Just three pitches on quite a large area. It was great, we didn't have far to go up the hill to get out for the day but could also easily walk down to the lake. We're not into water sports so didn't need to be near the lake like some who had brought canoes etc.
They issue a key each for the facilities blocks as there is a campsite on the shore of the lake with only the basics and they have apparently tried to use the camc site facilities in the past (better than having to type in a code like at Coed-Y-Llwyn).
Wifi was good.
Pitch was level and drained well during the downpours we endured (we did have some sun as well by the way). The overhanging trees do create a bit of a Chinese water torture effect when it rains, but there you go.
The fish and chips from the van on the Wednesday we arrived was good and saved us some stress.
We visited Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside which are all near to each other and with a visit. Ambleside is full of outdoor shops if you need any sort of gear or equipment etc. Also visited Glenridding at Ullswater and Kendal which has lots of shops.
We fell in love with the Lake District and will be going back one day. This site will be hard to beat.
