Never going there again - awful!

We used this Club Site due to the location close to Coniston and surrounding area and that's about the best you can say. As with other reviewers we found finding a pitch dreadful and after a drive of 5+hours this is really not what you want. The pitches are laid out in small cul de sacs around a huge coppiced area and were in a dreadful state of repair. They don't drain well after rain so you end up sitting in numerous small lakes. Overall the site is dark, dank and gloomy and if the sun shines then you are in total shade anyway. Unless you plan to be out ALL day then we wouldn't recommend this site, it is not one you would want to sit outside your van with a G&T and a good book! If you leave your van without the site map then leave at least 15mins time to find you way back once inside the site! Some on-site directional signs (eg toilets, water, etc) would be really useful, or even if they call certain areas a relevant name (eg Bluebird coppice, Lake Coppice etc) so at least you had a clue where your van was pitched! They have great little drying rooms at each shower block for wet coats etc but they were not working so pretty useless. All in all we didn't enjoy this site at all and would not stay here or recommend it to anyone. On the positive side the Wardens were all lovely and friendly and can only work with what they are given. Maybe the Club need to have a long conversation with the National Trust who own the site?
