Mixed Feelings

This is my least favourite Caravan & Motorhome Club site that we've stayed on so far. It's a very large site set into the woodland, with mainly gravelly pitches. The positive things were the usual high standard Club facilities, all very nice and clean and there's a good shop on site. The Staff were helpful and very pleasant. The location is convenient for Coniston Lake as you can walk from the site down to the Lake in about 10 mins. There seemed to be no pitch allocation so it was a bit of a free-for-all. For us though, the downside was the noise on the site. This is definitely a site more suited for families and I totally accept it was school holiday time, but there was a lot of children playing on bikes and scooters and skateboards. The number of barking dogs was unacceptable and the noise levels were amplified by the site being in the valley. I felt like I was in the middle of a housing estate. In all fairness, it was quiet at night time. Personally though, I didn't find the site relaxing but this was just us (travelling as a couple in a motorhome). We decided to move on to a quieter site further up the lake.
