Lovely visit, excellent facilities, helpful staff. Thoroughly recommended
We stayed mid March Monday to Saturday prior to school break. We were a little late arriving but Avril was there to welcome us, the site is well equipped with late arrivals areas but as we arrived just after tea time were able to make our way onto site.
The site is well equipped for motor homes and caravans alike with several service areas including motor home service points as well. Due to the time of year/week we pretty much had our pick of pitches which helped, so cant comment on what its like at busier times. We located ourselves near the bottom play area and utility block (pitch 123) and have to say the facilities were fantastic, well set up, plenty of room and very clean. Our issue (ours not the sites) was that it was our first time away in the family motor home and we hadn't yet invested in some levelling blocks, the pitches were shale and almost level but if you're in a van of some sort invest in a pair of levelling blocks before hand.
The site makes it clear that they are developing a few pitches for 'glamping', this work did not impact on us at all, but if you are going at a busy time and are pressed for where to pitch this should be taken in to account.
We went with out 3 year old girl and baby boy, and can say that the Family bath room in the utility block was very useful, though we near enough had exclusive use of it as at this time of the year think we were the only ones with youngsters.
We can wholeheartedly recommend the site and the area in general for a relaxing break, the walk to Coniston was lovely (the one out the bottom of the site and along the water past Coniston hall), and if you want to travel a bit further afield you're not far from Windemere.
Mark and Jannet, Carol and Chris were very friendly as well and made us feel very welcome. Thanks Mark for the chat and advice, and thanks Jannet for the Tourer Explorer treasure hunt!
