Lovely Sept break 19-22 (midweek)

A lot has been said already about Coniston Coppice, we stayed there for two nights last week (using our free night voucher too). It was our first time on a club site so we were a little apprehensive... (needn’t have been). After arriving on Thursday, from the south (the Lakes roads can be a bit scary), we found the site easily. The warden Michael was super helpful when I explained we were newbies. We chose our own pitch, and yes levelling blocks are needed (probably for most) ...but not a problem. We didn’t have a coax lead and our satellite dish for TV didn’t work under the trees but we have dvds, so that was a small issue as we were glad of the shade to keep our motorhome cool for our pooch. The walk through the site down to the Lake took less than 5 mins and oh boy were we lucky with the weather ! Very pretty flat walk on a made up path to Coniston , a cruise on the Lake (doggie allowed too), and a wander back took the best part of one day with a mooch around Coniston too.I think going midweek and out of school hols was a good idea as everywhere was so peaceful, it was certainly getting busier on the Sat morning as we left. There is a food van on site and Friday night fish and chips were amazing ! Tip: ensure you pop up during the day and write your order on a notepad on the counter. Thanks to the lovely lady in the caravan in our little glade who showed us where the water and waste point were as we had driven straight past most of them without noticing ! We will certainly go back here.
