We have just returned from a half term break at this site. We arrived in the middle of storm Brian after an 8 hour drive, wardens were friendly and helpful advising of possible best pitches. In the pouring rain we managed to find the best pitch for us and got in as quickly as possible. We had a lovely walk down to the river the next morning, so nice to be right on the lake side. The facilities were exactly as you would expect from a C&MC site, always clean and well kept. All in all we had no complaints. Can highly recommend the chippy on the corner in Coniston, only a 5 minute drive away, lovely food and a reasonable price, and close enough to get it back to the caravan piping hot! Having read reviews on here I was slightly concerned as to whether we had chosen the best site as we like open views and sunny pitches, if that is what you are looking for this isn't the site for you. But, lets face it, this is the Lake District, there are a lot of trees! This is a forest site and the pitches are irregular but they do the best they can under the conditions. If you are looking for a site that takes you back to nature with helpful friendly staff you won't be disappointed!
