Good for families

Leaf stains & annoying dogs.

We have just spent eleven nights at this site which is a refreshing break from the usual regimented layout of club site; all the pitches are, to a greater or lesser degree, sheltered by tree cover. Which in practice means, constant dripping on the roof long after its finished raining, and very bad leaf stains on the roof. Apart from that, its location is fantastic, being a short walk down a stony track and through a camp site field to the Edge of Coniston Water. The mile walk to Coniston is all good underfoot with tarmac or stony paths, suitable for pushchairs etc. A word of warning if you intend to use the site in the next few days, avoid any pitch near the family on 163, they have two dogs which create havoc when other dogs pass the pitch, and their German Shepherd will rear up on its back legs barking and snapping. I did complain personally to the owners about the antisocial behaviour and lack of control but they just don't get it. The wardens also had words but there is only one solution for this type of behaviour, and that is to get them off the site straight away. These people merely give all dog owners a bad press, which is extremely annoying, especially as we, like the rest of the multitude of dog owners using the site, manage to keep our dog quiet and under control. Apart from that, a great site.
