LARGE BUT VERY PEACEFUL

We usually try to avoid larger sites, but Coniston Park Coppice was a delight. Really helpful, friendly staff on reception and immaculately clean facilities offset the feeling that you're in an urban housing estate with its numerous cul-de-sacs. We'd read a handful of negative reviews but didn't recognise the picture they painted. The site is imaginatively laid out with the different pitch sizes easily identified by their markers. Rather than allocate you to a specific pitch, the staff allow you to choose where you want to be, then return to reception to inform them and collect keys for the facilities. All pitches have hardstanding and you're likely to need levelling blocks, but there's plenty of space. It's a really peaceful location. We'd recommend bikes for getting to Coniston or Torver. If you take the lakeshore path to Coniston, you'll pass through another site which has some of the worst reviews we've ever read, and you'll understand why Coniston Park Coppice is so popular. The nearest pub is the cosy Ship Inn, which does great food at sensible prices.
