We stayed as a couple over the last weekend in February. We were lucky with the weather, which certainly helped. Friendly reception, very helpful, immaculately kept...what more can you ask? About a mile out of Coniston village, with plenty of pubs, cafes and so on. An easy walk by the lake but narrow lanes - it is the Lake District after all - make it a perilous walk if you follow the signs at the site entrance. It's fine in daylight but not a walk to be undertaken at night, which is a shame. We would recommend The Black Bull...good beer, good food, good atmosphere.
