Dogs

This site is superb and undoubtably the best one we've visited. However, our trip was only spoilt by the noise made by the rather large proportion of dogs. It seemed that at approximately every 15 minute interval throughout the day, a dog would be barking somewhere and after a couple of days this became rather annoying. Now I do appreciate that members have dogs and have every right to take them on site, but my point is directed at those members who may want a bit of peace and tranquility. Be warned!

Sadly, there are some inconsiderate owners out there.

Did you speak to the warden about it as we're asked to do?

The problem with the site is that people are going off the official paths and taking short cuts through the woods.  Which is scaring the dogs, as people are suddenly appearing from behind their caravans (scary for the owners too, when people suddenly appear unexpectedly!) . Of course they will bark if they think their territory is being invaded!  So please stop being so lazy, and keep to the proper paths.  It would stop dogs barking considerably on this site.

If a dog was barking incessently and if I could identify an inconsiderate owner who was ignoring their dog, I would of course have informed the warden, but this was not the case. Here we had dogs barking at other dogs (or people) walking by and owners would often attempt to calm the dog. I do understand that it was dogs doing what dogs do and this is generally out of the control of the owner. It was therefore a pointless exercise to contact the warden on this occasion. My point and my post was simply to warn potential users of the site what to expect.
