Big Site but not for us!
This is the second time we have been to this site first with a motorhome some years ago and this time with a caravan. It is a large site with lots of cut-de-sacs which can make it difficult to turn round. We found a reasonably level pitch but many are not and just stone laid on the contours of the land.
It's a nice walk to Coniston from the site. Although plenty of places to walk we could not take the dog of the lead as sheep about which is fair but good to take the dog off the lead sometimes. We went early September and a lot of rain over the five days we were there and some pitches were waterlogged. Lovely to see the Robins and hear the owls at night. This site has a lot of tree cover and is great for walkers and easier for small motorhomes. The wardens were fine but on reflection not somewhere we would return to.
