Beautiful site marred by leaf blowers
Just spent three nights at this site as my husband and a group of friends were planning to walk The Old Man of Coniston. We had a lovely welcome and were told to pick our pitch. We drove around and decided on a pitch on a slightly more open area quite near the site entrance - it’s a very steep walk up from the bottom of the site. The site is beautiful and perfectly placed to walk into Coniston. We remarked particularly on how peaceful the site was. We spent most of Saturday in Coniston but were back on site later in the afternoon and were treated to the constant noise of leaf blowers which seemed to go on and on. Next day, my husband went off to do his walk. The weather was dreadful so I was in our motorhome all day. First surprise was going into the showers to find several members of staff (including a male) painting ceiling tiles. ‘Go ahead’ they said but it was discomfiting to be in a shower with people on step ladders all around. However, the showers were brilliant. Later though the dreaded leaf blowers started up again and continued for most of the day. At one point, someone was blowing the leaves from the corner of one of the warden pitches (the grass and the hedge!) for ages. What was the point? It’s Autumn - the noise was totally intrusive and unnecessary. I’m guessing someone will refer to Health & Safety but to go to that extreme is ridiculous. I would love to come back and Autumn is a perfect time for us but not if we have to put up with that noise if we wish to stay on site during the day.
