First stay at Clumber Park

We enjoyed our first stay at this lovely site. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and approachable and the site was well looked after. It was very peaceful. There is a fantastic new childrens' playground which was very busy but we were able to choose a pitch away from it and the noise of children playing. It was great to see it being used by so many children having a lovely time in the school holidays. It is quite a distance to walk to the main centre of Clumber Park but this was fine for us. There is lots of wonderful forest and countryside to explore with a lake and many walks and cycle routes. We did the red cycle route and the paths were good and well signposted. We used the secure bike storage area on site which gave peace of mind. We visited the dog friendly cafe by the cricket pitch a couple of times and we found that this was always quieter than the cafe in the main building with no queues. The refurbished facilities were excellent - very clean and well laid out. It is a great idea keep half the toilet block open during cleaning times so access is maintained at all times. Our main problem was the Wi-fi. We don't usually need access to the internet or mobile phone coverage whilst away but this weekend we did for family reasons. You need to walk down the road outside the site to get a mobile signal. As for the Wi-fi we tried the free hour provided by the club but it kept dropping in and out and when my husband tried to pay for the premium version he was not able to do it. The National Trust has free Wi-fi in its cafes and around the main buildings so we used that.
