Access Denied

My wife and I have stayed at Clumber park several times but on Sunday 30th Aug 15 there was a 999 Emergency Services Special Day taking place and when we arrived at the park entrance gates (the way instructed to do so in club book and on online the road was coned off. We followed the diversion sign only to be told we could not enter that way and to go back to roundabout and turn left. Unfortunately there were no other signs as to how to enter park. The area is known for poor mobile phone signal but we fortunately found a layby where we could telephone site for instructions as to what to do. Luckily their instructions were excellent and we eventually found our way into the park and then onto site. Apparently the National Trust had hired out part of the park for the 999 event and although they had told the wardens of the event happening they had omitted to say access entrance would have several no entry cones across it. If you are travelling to the site on a weekend I suggest you check with the site that no event is taking place which will restrict your entrance, or if there is, how you enter the park. We were not the only ones who had this problem. Not a good start to a holiday when you have been travelling for 3 hours. When the park is being used for something else perhaps a sign at the park entrance saying "access for caravans only" would be a good idea in the future. Clumber Park is an excellent site and one we will go back to again.
