Nice Site, Appalling Access

Visited during half term and have to say the location is excellent with a wide variety of pitches and the facilities to the usual high standard we have come to expect from a club site. However, having been towing for over forty five years I can honestly say this is the worst access I have ever experienced. There are many narrow access roads to sites but I don't recall one that has boulders bordering the track such that the slightest contact is likely to cause considerable and expensive damage along the floor/wall junction of the caravan. I think we are all aware of the number of caravanning newcomers that have appeared due to covid travel restrictions, and it is these people in particular that are going to get caught out due to lack of experience. Many of these people may well be towing new vans, which will exacerbate the misery and possibly put them off caravanning for good!! I watched the video of the approach on youtube prior to our visit and have to say it was most useful to get an idea of what to expect. I would also like to thank DT for the making of the video and echo his recommendations to take the lane VERY slowly. I would also like to add that people may want to use their mirrors on the corners in particular. Also it may help to ensure your vehicle mirrors (as opposed to extension mirrors) are angled down in order to achieve a better view of the caravan wheels and lower sections of the caravan. Finally, if you meet traffic coming the other way, dont feel pressurised to do anything you're not comfortable with. Not trying to teach anyone to suck eggs but as I was once told when I worked in aviation, "the day we think we have stopped learning is the day we become dangerous".
