Motorhome stay for 3 nights - Perfect base 5 star
Very warm welcome, though I didn't get to know either of the site hosts (why are they still called wardens - aren't they in prisons? ) I heard from a number of other "campers" on how friendly, helpful and engaging they were.
We reversed in on a pitch that backed onto the football ground we were warned there would be a bit of noise on the Saturday as Cheddar were playing Chard - I christened this game the "cheese salad" derby. It didn't spoil my afternoons cuppa...in fact it was quite entertaining hearing the one man and his dog cheering the goals and the players discussing refereeing decisions. We had a hard standing and full sun for most of the day on our awning side.
The site is a short walk into Cheddar village and 20 mins walk into Cheddar Gorge. The Cider Barn* is a 15 minute walk from site heading out to the right (twds Wells) but there is no pavement - a taxi cost us £8,
An unmissable site - just wish it was open all year. Why isn't it?
