Perfect location for visiting chatsworth

We visited 21 to 24 Feb. We loved the location and the walks around the grounds of Chatworth. Baslow was a little disappointing, not as much there as I had hoped but three pubs I think and an Italian restaurant. We had our dog with us so visited Rowley and the Devonshire Arms for drinks. Both had welcoming fires on such cold days! We went to the blue John mine at Castleton and would have liked to walk mam tor but too cold. We vowed to return to Castleton as the area looked like it was more of a hill walking area. We visited Bakewell and I’m sure pretty in warmer weather but surprised at how little was in the town. We will definitely return to the area in warmer weather. I think for anyone wanting more going on in a town Buxton would be a good base, serious walkers may prefer Castleton. Chatsworth House and gardens weren’t open when we visited, they re-open at the end of March but you can explore the grounds. There are many comments about the drive but we didn’t experience any problems, in fact there are about five passing points so if you arrive and depart when you are meant to there shouldn’t be a problem. Spacious pitches we thought, the birds were noisy in the morning but at least no traffic noise! All in all an enjoyable stay.
