Lovely site

Chatsworth is a lovely site & ideally situated for Chatsworth House itself & the many varied walks in the area. The ‘secret’ door into Chatsworth grounds is also really appealing. The wardens are always happy to help, they are friendly & the site & facilities are well maintained & spotless. Within the reception is a fairly well stocked shop which is very useful. We have, however, two gripes: 1) Without exception, every caravan & Motorhome we saw arriving each day DID NOT adhere to the 5mph speed limit & this is extremely dangerous. There are children & pets on site & this needs to stop. 2) We saw SEVERAL people get out of their Motorhome, while their partner carried on around the site, in order to find their ideal pitch & stand in it until said partner came back around! This also needs to stop! All-in-all, we had a wonderful, relaxing 10 days at Chatsworth & will definitely return!

Hi Tracey

Not sure I agree with your second gripe

What is the difference between a motorhome passenger getting out and saving a pitch to a caravanner going on a pitch??????????

We always do this on every site we do not get an allocated pitch.  I get out choose a suitable pitch then leave something on the pitch why other half goes to the service point to fill up with water.

Why does this upset you so much, if we went out for the day or to the shops we would leave something on the pitch to keep it reserved so why shouldn't we do this on arrival?

What in your opinion is the correct way of arriving on a site and pitching up?

I agree with you about speeding. This is a common problem on sites and I have raised this in writing with the club's head office. They don't want to know and claim they have no duty of care to members for enforcing site speed limits.  I'm not convinced that this is true.

In fact I find the club generally isn't interested in anything other than praise. On a few occasions we have experienced very rude wardens but my experience has been that the club always take the side of the warden.

Why should a motorhome not chose a pitch before filling with water ? Many times I’ve seen a car and caravan left on a pitch stilL hooked up while the owners wander round the site to see if they can see a better pitch
