We visited this site last weekend, arriving around 7.30pm following a tricky and long 'after-work' journey. A warden had telephoned to let me know that the office would be locked and just to ring the bell when we arrived. Having done so, the warden appeared very quickly and despite having her evening disturbed was cheerful and welcoming. She suggested I pay the following morning and helpfully gave me a site map with all of the vacant pitches marked. This made finding a pitch really easy and was greatly appreciated. In the morning, I was offered the opportunity to move pitch but didn't need to. The market was quite small and wasn't (for us) a destination on its own but together with the house and garden was a great day out. We visited the gardens which even in winter are lovely and followed that with an evening visit to the house. It was something of a treat with lovely lights, live music and smaller visitor numbers as well as wine and mince pies and as a special occasion was well worth it. The walk back to the site was dark but fine with a torch. Next day, the warden wished us a safe journey and lovely Christmas and reminded us about the discount available to us at the farm shop which was a nice end to the weekend. This is a great site, well looked after and with very friendly and welcoming wardens who genuinely want members to have a good stay. Despite the effort to get to it, we hope this will be a regular destination for us.
