Lovely peaceful stay.

We stayed recently for five nights for our owners club event in Kidderminster, and the NEC show. Although we had booked from the Thursday, the weather forecast was Storm Doris and we felt it was not very responsible to tow 200 miles,so contacted the site on the Wednesday to see if we could come a day early.DISASTER....SITE FULL.(damn the NEC show).we set about trying to find a pitch and rang back to ask if the wardens would ring us if a pitch became available. We located a C.L. pitch nearby, only for the warden to ring us at about 13-00 to say a pitch would be available due to an early departure(good old Storm Doris!!!) So cancelled the C.L,(a very nice lady only two miles from the site at Alvechurch, who was very understanding) Van already packed, off we went and arrived about 18-00. Although the site was full ,we found it very quiet. The wardens were lovely, the facilities well up to the usual standards. We visited the N.T. Packwood House nearby which was excellent(very interesting Topiary Garden) and also the Birmingham Back to Backs(also N.T) which were fascinating, but the highlight was probably our visit to Newman Brothers Coffin Works on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter. Most unusual and original. One thing that we did notice, and this confirmed by friends who have used the site several times, was a less friendly, slightly aloof response from our fellow members on the site. This is something we have not experienced before and cannot really get a handle on the reason. Generally a lovely stay with wardens who went the extra mile to find us the early pitch night.
