Too tight

I would like to start by saying that the wardens were very friendly and the site was lovely and clean. The site though I found to be very tight. As you can see by the site plan there are a lot of non awning pitches which equates to smaller pitches. Because it is so popular it runs full or nearly full all week so there wasn’t the feeling of space that you get on other camc sites. I would return here again and again though (if I could get in!) because Castleton itself is beautiful with lots of walks straight from the campsite, which, when you are in a motorhome is brilliant.

Fantastic Site!

What a fabulous site! Great for walks pubs and shops. The wardens are lovely too and keep the site in an immaculate condition. Their check in procedures are efficient, time saving and COVID friendly- I suggest they are adopted by all sites! We will be back.

Our first site in our MotorHome, and it was a good one

Just bought a MH in late 2021. Chose the Castleton Club Site to go to as our first outing in the motorhome as its not that far away from us at Worksop. We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. Place is a lovely site. With plenty of good sized pitches. Very good facilities. Toilet block etc was spotlessly clean throughout. We stayed on a serviced pitch, which was in good condition. Some grassed area's were a bit muddy, but there had been heavy rain on the first day we visited. So its understandable that some grassed area's were a bit soggy. We had lots of rain and strong winds on the first night, so didn't get much sleep. Was surprised by the wind as the sight is enclosed by trees, so I didn't expect the wind to effect us much. Castleton is only a short 10 - 15 minute walk away. It has plenty of good pubs. We have 2 dogs, and both pubs we went into were dog friendly. Had a lovely Sunday Lunch in The Peak Hotel but it was a bit pricey, as was the Lager. But we enjoyed it. Will definitely come to the Castleton Club Site again.

Christmas Cracker

First visit to this wonderful site. Very little to criticise except for the external dish washing facilities which, probably fine in the summer months but a bit of a mystery in the middle of winter with the rain on your back. Literally. Superb location for Castleton and the joy of its Christmas light display, along with a great location to explore the Hope Valley area. A real jewel in the C&MC network.

Short stopover, one nighter

Only a one nighter on our way home.We have been trying to visit again for almost 2 years but always booked up. Super site, one of our favourite ones to stay at, so much to do around here walking and cycling. It also made a change that everyone kept to the site speed limits, not usually be the case at this site. We are booked for a longer stay in mid January which I booked a year ago to be sure and it's usually a wee bit of quieter then on the site and in the village too.

Great site

Great site ,clean and well kept, bonus drying room.Plenty of walking places and local pubs for eating. On the downside is the 1o,clock entrance leaving little time to get set up in winter plus the queues on the main road

Excellent location

Usual high standards and cleanliness. Location is great with Hope and Castleton within a mile either way (with a plentiful supply of pubs too). Can walk to Mam Tor easily or cycle to Ladybower / Derwent. Nice touch is the drying room for those rainy days. Just watch out for the queues outside on the road that we experienced as the gates did not open till 1PM.

Superb Location

Had an excellent stay on a fully serviced pitch. Five minutes walk into Castleton village and lots of exploring to do for the keen walker. You can walk up to Treak Cliff Cavern then carry on up the old subsided road only accessible on foot and see how the road has slipped at the foot of Mam Tor (shivering mountain). Then continue a little more to Blue John Cavern. The only gripe about the club site is the 1:00pm arrival time. By the time you have checked in and set up, lunch ends up being in the middle of the afternoon. If arrivals returned to 12:00 I’m sure wardens can stagger lunch to let you on site. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Awesome!

This site seems really busy, I struggled to get a booking. The site is perfectly located for walking etc and other outdoor activities.
