Our first visit to Castleton & we were not disappointed! Friendly reception from the wardens on arrival, we had booked a serviced pitch which was slightly separated from the main site but still in a good location.
It certainly rained whilst we were there but we had no issues with flooding on the pitch or around the site.
We managed to visit/walk Win Hill & Ladybower, Lose Hill, Hollins Cross & Mam Tor, Cheedale & The Monsal Trail, Crowden Tower, Kinder Low & Jacob’s Ladder, National Trust at Longshaw & finally Treak Cliff Cave.
There are several pubs in Castleton which are in walking distance from the site. Two food vans visited the site whilst we were there, the wood fire Pizza was a hit with ourselves! We will certainly return 😊
Great few days
Great location for walking.
Wardens very friendly and helpful.
Easy walk into the local town of Castleton with very numerous pubs.
Bus stop very near the entrance so easy access to other towns.
We have motorhome and we were able to get around easily without using the van.
Great drying room for inclement weather.
Really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Fabulous little site, wardens friendly and pitches are a decent size. Near a main road so try to pitch further around the site if you want peace and quiet.
Castleton is a fantastic village, 7 pubs, would highly recommend The Nags and The Bull for food. Really pretty village just avoid a sunny weekend as it gets VERY busy.
Loads of walks and caves to explore.
Another fantastic weekend at Castleton
From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome by the wardens, we chose a pitch from the ones available as we traveled after work on Friday, luckily some great pitches were still available, so husband manoeuvred our motorhome whilst I went back to reception to confirm. After a lovely dinner with friends already on site we used the shower facilities, absolutely spotless as was the site and other facilities too.
This is our third stay now at Castleton, great location for some good walks, good food and beverages, we can definitely recommend it!
Misleading comments on WI FI
The site is very good and in a fantastic location. One major gripe I have though is with the WI FI. There are two options, the first one is the club free. When you log onto this it goes on to say that it's only for one hour.... it doesn't take long to see that the speed is useless. I did a check on the speed and it basically said poor, try another provider. It then flashes to the second option which is the club premier site at a cost of £5 for 24 hours, this is better but why don't they give you this in the first instance and for free!!!
I'm no skinflint but object to being taken for a ride... What's the use of advertising a system that is useless and only lasts for one hour. Get rid of it and put the premier system in its place for free. Be transparent with your facilities.
Long weekend birthday break
Had a couple of nights as it's not too far away for us. Just a birthday getaway and went to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese for her birthday. had a drink and excellent Sunday roast. Recommend the place as it is only 10 minutes walk from the site, as is most of Castleton really. 20 yards further up is the quirky Peak Hotel, good ales and strange things on the walls. Great to walk around the village.
Site up to the usual high standards expected from the club. Some of the pitches of appear to have a slope from front to back, so if your corner steadies are not overly long a block or two might be an idea to include in your kit.
It is a great weekend getaway if local (we are on the edge of Peak District) and if from further afield you could spend weeks in the area, it's beautiful. It does appear quite a busy site, so don't leave it too late to book.
Good position to walk & cycle from
Easily accessed site, gravel pitches which most require some form of levelling system. One way system so don’t forget to visit the Motorhome service point on the right as you pass through the entrance barrier as you can’t return to it without going out the exit barrier then back through the entry barrier again. Seemed to be a lot of dogs on the site some better behaved than others, one unit having 6 dogs! Excellent walking & cycling routes direct from the site.
Great first voyage into motorhome Travels
Access to site really good and the team makes sure you have a map.know.where to.go.
Pitches are really well spaced, and facilities are fabulous, shower toilet block warm, washing up area enclosed and plenty hot.water.
Water and disposal.fcilites well distributed on site, dog walking areas small.but adequate. Drying room real.bonus.
Had couple of seasoned travellers who didn't have a volume button and obviously wanted people to benefit from.their conversation but other than that was fabulous.
Great first voyage and well worth.membership onto.next adventure hope all go as well as this one. Well organised site great facilities and location.
Nice site great location
Second time here for a short break .
Nice walk into Castleton. Very nice village and several good places to eat in . Beautiful countryside around.
Well worth a visit . Highly recommend this site.
Lovely site close to local facilities
We have been to the Castleton Club site many times, it’s a lovely site in a beautiful setting. The facilities of Castleton village are only a short walk away, with many pubs available, serving excellent food. Most places are dog friendly. It was very, very cold during our stay and we did have an issue with the site electricity going off across our part of the site, which was a little frustrating, however this will not put us off returning in 2024.
