Great location

We don’t drive off site and spent 5 nights here (4 complete days). We found plenty to do each day with a variety of excellent and interesting walks, long and short, hilly and not hilly. Castleton and Hope villages are a short walk away and have small shops and cafes. On a wet day we took a 1 hr bus ride to Sheffield via Hathersage which was scenic and interesting - £2 each way & free for English concessionary bus pass holders. Other routes are available. We will definitely return to this popular site.

Perfect for us

Lovely site in a great location. Nice easy walk into town. Site was quite full but very quiet. Facilities were clean and warm. Our pitch was level and they all looked a good size. Castleton is a nice town which is great just walking round the roads. Loads of great, dog friendly pubs. We ate in Ye Olde Nags Head. Amazing dinner! Perfect site or walking!!

Our first Motorhome trip!

As the title states, this was the first trip we'd taken in our new Motorhome. Staff were very welcoming & friendly on arrival and provided us with all the site information. We had everything we needed to enjoy our first trip. Excellent location for walking in the hills and only a short walk into Castleton. The only downside was that you had to go out of the security barrier and back in again to empty grey waste.

Amazingly expensive

We have visited CastleSite on many occasions. It is always a pleasure. Recently the price for Site visits are making us think twice about returning. Commercial sites price stays per night for two adults. Does it really cost £11.80 for one additional adult per night?

How much!

Yes, this is a very nice clean site in a great location. My only real concern is the direction pricing seems to be taking on camping sites in general. I always felt that camping/caravaning should be an accessible recreation for all, at affordable rates. And I know there are cheaper sites/CL's etc. But I just feel that £45 per night for two adults - £50 with an awning is the wrong direction. I also know we have a choice, but just thought I'd mention it. Regards Simon

Great campsite

Great campsite in a good location for walking. Plenty of pubs in Castleton although it was very busy at the weekend. Castleton was generally quiet but it seemed like there were several coach parties that had arrived at the weekend and the top of Mam Tor was like Bournemouth beach on a sunny summers day. The campsite was quiet during the week but did fill up on Friday evening only to empty out on Tuesday. The site is well laid out and the facilities are kept very clean. The whole site was very clean, the staff obviously worked hard to keep the site that way. Couple of mildly negative points: only 3 male showers which we felt were barely adequate given the size of the site; toilets cleaned starting at 10am which is about the time people would be setting out for the day and would like a last visit to the facilities before leaving. All in all a very good site and we would return if in that area.

Gary, Alison & Bernie are absolute stars.

Firstly what a gem of a site, 10 minute walk into Castleton with lots of great pubs, unfortunately the weather was pants so Guinness and sausage and mash it was. We visited 4th to 6th August, Castleton is a great site, well set out, large pitches and spotless facilities. We are new to the caravan scene and just about everything that could go wrong (caused by us) did. Anyway step in Gary and the team. Yes we didn’t lock our jockey wheel unhitching the van and the whole thing hit the floor, Gary appeared like the shopkeeper in Mr Benn (you can guess our age), asked if he saw what we had done, he just laughed “we heard it, I knew”. At the same time we also managed to break the snap cord……… Anyway with help and a fair amount of polite ribbing, we got it all sorted. Each time they walked past they checked in just to make sure we hadn’t done anything else stupid. Great team (even though they were just holiday cover), great site and a great weekend, despite the best efforts of the Great British Weather. 😁

Beautiful location

Great site on edge of Castleton village. Well maintained, very clean and importantly a drying room for that Peak District weather. Good walking from the site itself.

Perfection

This is the 4th visit to this site and we love it. It’s calm and peaceful and close to the centre of Castleton. The pubs are good and the quaintness of Castleton is magical. We’ll be back again soon!
