Friendly and helpful wardens
I like the Cherry Hinton site for a number of reasons but on my visit last week, a number of the hard standing pitches were closed solely because they could be accessed only by crossing a small strip of grass between the pitch and tge access road. Because the grass was soft and muddy and I understand previous visitors had to be rescued, the wardens had been forced to close those particular pitches. Although nearly half of the pitches on the site are stated to be hard standing, they appear to be unusable after a period of wet weather.
Also, a more general observation fir me personally; I dislike having to endure the inane and sometimes incessant chatter on Radio 2 when visiting the toilet block. Going in in the middle of a programme, one has no idea what the DJ is talking about and the banter is sometimes painful! Worse still, in the dishwashing area, the volume was so loud that it was virtually impossible to hold a conversation with anyone else in there. I realise that this doesn't only apply to the Cherry Hinton site and seems to be the general policy of the Club but I for one would rather not have to endure it. The trouble is, like it or not, there is no escaping from it, unless one visits the block late at night or very early in the morning.
