We booked an awning pitch on hardstanding. Well the pitch was over a muddy patch that you had to paddle through to get to the hardstanding.
Then the pitch size..... We pay more for a pitch with awning but it wasn't big enough for the car, awning and caravan! The non awning spaces were no smaller. We had to put the car in front of the awning, which made it a squeeze to get in but there was no point in even trying to fit the car on the "normal" side of the caravan to park as THERE WAS ANOTHER CARAVAN!!!! Which also meant the car was in the mud so we were paddling again!!
The worst though, and I kid you not, squeezed in between plot 1 and 2 was this other caravan and car!! We were in 2 and It was horrible, felt like a goldfish bowl. We thought it may just be stored there as the site seemed to have a folding camper being stored in the car park but no it was in use! It was empty a couple of days them someone turned up. We ended up just leaving the blinds shut!!!
So in short... Small spaces..extra caravan crammed in between plots... Hard standing has mud/grass in front....oh and it's not even a cheap site. Probably okay with a small van and no awning but I'd still avoid.

We visit this site fairly regularly and have done so for many years. I have never noticed any cramming as suggested. Also, the price for an awning pitch is no more expensive on club sites. However, this is one of several sites where the non awnings are better situated than the awning ones in our opinion. Those pitches opposite the toilet block are much sought after and although yo do have to drive over a little grass this is a quarry with little if any top soil to speak of. I can understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea but we love it and fail to see how the overall rating is a miserable one star.
