Good for families

Lovely little CMC site!

We are currently staying on Cae Mawr Club site and felt that we should really try and redress the balance after the previous review. We arrived and were greeted by a very nice warden who told us to inspect the pitches and decide which one we liked and, after setting up, let her know where we had decided upon. The pitches we looked at were all fairly level and a mixture of hardstanding and grass. We chose a hardstanding which required a little levelling but nothing much and, looking at other caravans/motorhomes on site, not many have much if anything in the way of levelling blocks which would indicate to me that the pitches are on the whole fairly level. The only area that may have required more levelling would possibly be in the centre of the site on the grass sections which would possibly suit smaller units due to the undulation. But having said that we saw a twin axle caravan with the tow hitch touching the floor in order to get the caravan level. However I assume that they were given the same options as we were on arrival and had a choice of whether or not to site the caravan on that particular pitch. There are a few seasonal caravans dotted around but I would have to say that not all of them are on ‘prime’ pitches and there are more than enough nice pitches for visitors. I don’t think this site is particularly good for families as there is nowhere for children to play and there is a little road noise at busy times. There is a small path under trees that leads to a larger field which is a pleasant walk with or without a dog and beaches within walking distance. Moelfre and Benllech are easily accessible via the coastal patches if you feel like a nice walk. The motorhome service area is quite close to us and whilst we have been here we haven’t been aware of any problems to date. Once a unit leaves the pitch the wardens are there mowing the grass and checking that the pitch is ready for the next visitors and they are always pleasant and helpful whilst staying unobtrusive. The visiting fish and chip van calls at the static site next door on Tuesdays and although they are very nice, they are a bit pricey at £20 for 2 fish and chips with peas. We have been to Anglesey many times and usually prefer CLs but I must say we have been pleasantly surprised by the site and would have no qualms about returning in the future. Finally regarding the previous reviewers comments about pitch 1 being unavailable it occurred to us that perhaps it was because it’s the nearest to the wardens office so could be reserved for one of the wardens? However it was in use all the time we were here.
