Very Good but could be even better
Buxton was our weekend bolthole back in the good old working days. As far as we were concerned we weren't that bothered about how wonderful the facilities were as long as they were clean. We were there for the great outdoors.
Not much has changed in our requirements in the last 28 years. However we now spread our wings far and wide and it's a few years since we last visited Buxton. We didn't even know about the upgrade when booking. This was a last minute job and whilst the website said full, the warden said "Pitch available".
So what of the site in 2018? Mostly hardstanding now with something called "Service Pitches", whatever these new fangled things are. They seem to be popular, that's what they are. One thing they still haven't changed is the uneveness of the pitches. Ooh,most of them are so nearly flat but not quite. However there are a few spots that are perfect (and a few spots which are poor). All new tarmac road, less noise when the 7 o'clock brigade just have to roll their wastemaster to the emptying point. Don't worry though because they'll get you with the Aquaroll!😁
Toilet block? Shower cubicles have been increased in size. Even the corpulently challenged should be happy. The ubiquitous "PITA" chair? Yippee, it's gone to be replaced by a bench. So much better now there's more space. Hooks? 3 plus one for the towel. Super. Showerheads? OK, just. With the water flow still being poor here the showeheads just about project the flow far enough out. Number of showers and private cubicles have been increased and there are now 6 toilet cubicles. Still the same old problem of some members not knowing how to use a loo brush. Unfortunately the push buttons could have been replaced with more hygienic hands free equipment similarly the wash taps. The good old mop from the 1990's has now been replaced by something akin to a Chocolate Fireguard. Ah well, it must be progress.
What else? Ah yes, the doors to the Washroom and Laundry room are soooo heavy you may need an extra Weetabix in the morning. Poor show CMC.
There are 2 Washing Machines and 2 Driers. Untried so no comment possible.
The waste bins do have recycling after a fashion. Mind you some Members are not to be trusted so can't really blame the club for not giving them too much choice.
Nothing much for kiddies to do on site but the great outdoors is literally on your doorstep. If you want your children pampering take them to another site. Dog walkers have no excuse. There's a great big dog walk right outside the entrance. It's called the Peak District.
The wrdens were friendly and very helpful to us.
Beaare though, the wifi reception is at best poor, at worst non existent. Ditto, the phone signal.
All in all? A pleasurable stay that brought back happy memories but the improvemdnts could have been so much better. Still, well tried CMC.
