Good for families

Not really for motorhomes, or dogs, or kids

A return trip to the refreshed Buxton site had been on our wish list all year, and we made it early September. At the gate 'Welcome to the Buxton Caravan Club site' reminded us of times gone by, but when we tried to find a pitch that allowed us to level our motorhome, we agree - this is a caravan site. If only someone had let the builders know how to create level pitches, and if only the caravan club knew that motorhomes don't have 4 corner jacks, or perhaps we're expected to take 7 or 8 inch ramps? Nice site, though, very nice area, good location, lots of walks and a nice friendly and helpful warden to bump into now and again, unless it's the female one that's made us decide never to come back here again - and even consider joining the camping club. Showers are very good, apart from the regular bursts of cold water every time we had a shower (men's and women's). Underfloor heating is OK, especially when you find an area that's not freezing cold.

Dont really agree with Bri n Jan, we had not stayed at this site for 20 years or so, so have found it much improved, toilet block fabulous, drive over motorhome waste drain just what elderly motorhome owners need (just cannot lift manhole covers any more.....hernia and new heart valve)  possibly too many red pegs ?? But they are good for elderly Caravanners....fairs fair. Lovely hardstanding well drained pitches, OK so in the upgrade the playground was lost, but something has to give. The area is great for kids exploring and doing good excercise.....I would have loved finding Solomons Temple as a kid....imagination would have made it Hogwarts or a castle under seige, whateverer I  wanted. SO, good for kids too .As for Dogs, my labrador loved it, lovely walks just outside the gate, no busy road, Country Park great.  IMHO.Good for Motorhomes and Dogs, perhaps kids need encouraging ? Our pitch was lovely and level ,so cant really comment about that problem.  We will be back anyway.
