Buxton for walking, peace and quiet.
The site is well placed within an ancient quarry which makes it quite a quiet spot, disturbed mainly by birdsong. There are some super short walks starting right from the site through woods, fields and to viewpoints. At times you can hear the boy racers in the distance but not too much.
There was a fish and chip van in the Saturday evening - not as good as my local chippie but it saved cooking.
The wardens have a well stocked shop full of lovely local bakery goodies - we tried the pain au chocolat, croissants and stilton scones.
We took a 10 year old boy with us who had been hoping to find other children to play with. The nature of the area means that this site is probably more suited to people interested in hill walking or visiting Buxton and so there were no other children to play with.
This would make a very good adults only site.
