Brief Visit

It is many years since we have been to Buxton site and we were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the quarry walls and the layout of the site - I believe it has had a makeover in recent years. Unfortunately, we were only there one night, on the way back from the Lake District, but it is definitely a site which deserves a longer stay. A lovely welcome from the wardens on arrival and the site shop was a delight, especially as other sites have, understandably, cut back in these Covid times. There were basics (thanks for the emergency kitchen roll!) and local fresh baked items. I went in to buy two pasties and came out with half a dozen items which were all delicious. I can't remember which band system the site was using for the facilities block but, for some reason it was a nightmare - of course, people make mistakes and take the band away or don't remove it from the hook - but, when either of us visited the facilities block there was always an issue with the bands outside v the number of people inside - sometimes empty, sometimes over-populated. Only having 4 bands for quite a big site was probably a challenge. Hopefully, the whole band system can be a distant memory from next week?! Thank you for a lovely, if brief, stay.
