Site for lovely heritage railway fans (ie my husband)

We went to Burrs so that my husband could have a trip on the North Lancs Railway. Last time we walked along the pretty paths that run often beside it but now there is a Halt at Burrs husband wanted the ride on the railway. He wasn't disappointed as he loved the ride behind steam engines and the diesel engine. We were fortunate to park just where we hoped and had views both over the railway line and Burrs country park. Had to believe you are in the middle of an urban area and one that was heavily industrialised in the past. it is just so pretty and so quiet too. Burrs country park is great for walkers with or without dogs. I was concerned about taking the dogs due to previous reviews of dog owners being told off for allowing their dogs to foul even though they picked up. I have an elderly 14 year old dog who wouldn't be able to hold herself until she walked very slowly to the country park BUT WE HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH ANY WARDENS. I picked up everything at once and put it the appropriate bin. Mind extra bins would be nice. I don't think this site is suitable for young children as there is no play area but it is a really lovely site and I think heritage rail enthusiasts will love it especially with the new super pitches being made along the edge of the railway. We were very happy with our 3 nights at this site and I am sure will return for both the pretty site, heritage railway and the lovely walks in the area for the dogs and us.
