Good for families

Nice Site ruined by lack of Club Discipline

Very nice, well-laid out site with clean facilities. Although on the edge of a large urban area there are plenty of countryside opportunities within a walk/drive. The East Lancashire Railway runs right past the site and as a rail buff I couldn't have been more pleased to see the ELR Diesel Group offerings powering up and the line. Unfortunately, 2 or 3 'connected' families arrived on the site. It was obvious (despite them being - apparently - 'Members') that they weren't merely on holiday/touring like the rest of us, as a work's van was frequently on and off the site as the (?) husband/father of one of the group left in the morning and came back at night. In the meantime other 'members' could be seen doing major repairs to their motorhomes. Meanwhile, and (apparently) despite several approaches by the Staff the children were allowed to literally run rampant around the site. The toilet block was attacked (toilet paper pulled out, stones put in the Milton buckets), pitch pegs removed, dogs running free (no leashes) and one of the children grabbed my walking stick and pulled it from behind me causing me to stumble. I complained in the Reception, but was told that measures couldn't be taken against these people as that would be seen to be discriminatory! What? It seems to me that the wardens didn't want to be seen to be 'racist'. If it were my children running around feral-style and I drove off in my works van I'm sure the Club would have something to say. We booked for an extra night; we couldn't take any more and packed up our caravan at 7pm leaving early. Won't be going back just in case certain 'families' turn up again......

Since my review and complaint 'measures' have been taken. The site owners have been very understanding and decided to take action. I believe that the 'problem' is now resolved. Thanks, Burrs site staff!
